Privacy Policy

Who we are
This policy explains how WATT ("WATT", "we", "us") handles personal information, both on this website (wattwork.com.au) and in the WATT field service application (fixwatt.app).
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you register interest on this site, we collect the details you type into the early-access form: your email address, and optionally your name, business name, mobile number and crew size. We also record which button you came through, so we know which part of the site is doing its job.
When you use the WATT app, we collect and store the information you and your team put into it, which typically includes:
- Account details for you and each team member: name, email, mobile, role.
- Your customers and sites: names, addresses, contact details and job history.
- Job records: schedules, notes, photos, documents, safety forms and sign-offs.
- Timesheets, including check-in and check-out times and travel.
- Quotes, invoices, payments and supplier expenses.
- Location data, where a team member has granted permission, to record where a job was checked in or out.
Automatically, we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser, device type and error diagnostics, so the product keeps working and we can fix faults.
How we use it
- To provide the WATT service: running your jobs, quotes, invoices, timesheets and compliance records.
- To answer your questions through WATTKINS against your own business data.
- To send transactional messages you have asked for, such as job confirmations to your customers.
- To contact you about early access, and about the product you have signed up to.
- To bill you, and to meter usage against your plan.
- To keep the service secure, diagnose faults and improve it.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use your business data to train AI models.
Your customers' information
When you add a customer to WATT, you are the one who decides what to collect and why. WATT stores and processes that information on your behalf, under your instruction. You remain responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it and for telling your customers how you use it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that make WATT work, and only as far as each one needs it. Our current providers are:
- SupabaseDatabase, authentication, file storage and realtime infrastructure for the WATT app.
- AnthropicPowers WATTKINS. Your question and the relevant records are sent to Anthropic to generate an answer. Anthropic does not use this content to train its models.
- ClickSendSends job confirmation and reminder SMS to you and your customers.
- ResendSends transactional email such as quotes, invoices and notifications.
- StripeProcesses subscription payments. WATT never stores your card number.
- SentryCaptures application errors so we can fix faults.
- Google MapsAddress lookup, mapping and travel calculations for jobs.
- VercelHosts and serves this website.
- NetlifyHosts and serves the WATT web app.
Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
How we protect it
- All traffic to WATT is encrypted in transit with HTTPS, and data is encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers.
- Every tenant is isolated at the database level with row-level security, so one business cannot read another business data.
- Access within your account is controlled by role, so a field worker sees only what their job requires.
- Access to production systems by our team is restricted, logged and granted only where needed to operate or support the service.
- We run automated security regression tests on every change to the tenant-isolation and permission rules.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a data breach likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
How long we keep it
We keep your business records for as long as your account is active, and afterwards for as long as we need them to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Early-access registrations are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until the early-access programme closes.
You can export your data at any time while your account is active, and ask us to delete it when you close your account.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The WATT app uses cookies and local browser storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and to make the app work offline.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. You can also unsubscribe from our early-access emails at any time using the link in the email.
Email privacy@wattwork.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Terms of service
The terms that govern your use of WATT are presented to you when you create an account, and form the agreement between you and WATT. For a copy before you sign up, email hello@wattwork.com.au.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and revise the "last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you directly.
